Common questions

What's the difference between a takeoff and a proposal?

Takeoff = the AI reads your plan and gives you quantities, materials, and pricing (the six-page report). Proposal = a beautiful client-facing document with your logo, scope of work, line items, tax, total, and a sign-here button. Takeoffs are for you. Proposals are for your clients.

What counts as a takeoff?

One uploaded plan + one report = one takeoff. You can re-download the same report as many times as you want, and you can run the same plan against multiple trades — that's still one takeoff.

Why only 1 free takeoff?

Honestly: because we want you to take it seriously. One real takeoff on your real plan tells you everything you need to know. After that, if Plan Pull saves you 2+ hours a month, the math on Solo is obvious. We'd rather you decide fast than waste your time pretending the free tier is enough.

Do I need a credit card to try the free one?

No. Email + password (or Google sign-in), and you're in. We won't charge or ask for a card unless you choose to subscribe.

What happens after my 1 free takeoff?

You can keep your account, view your past report + proposal forever, but new takeoffs and proposals require Solo or higher. Cancel anytime, no contracts.

Solo's 10 takeoffs — what if I go over?

You'll see a warning at takeoff #9. At #11 you'll be prompted to upgrade to Pro for the rest of the month. We don't let you accidentally rack up overage charges — you have to actively upgrade.

When should I pick Studio over Pro?

If you're sending more than 10 proposals/month. Studio gives you unlimited proposals + multi-seat (so your assistant or estimator can use it too) + priority queue. For a contractor doing serious volume, the math is obvious — Studio is just $70 more than Pro and removes every cap.

Why is Pro double the price of Solo?

Because Pro is a different product. Solo is 'AI takeoff for one person.' Pro is 'AI takeoff + proposal generator + the workflow to actually send everything to clients and subs.' If you're sending bids to clients or coordinating subs, Pro pays for itself in saved hours within the first week.

What's annual?

Pay for 12 months upfront, get 2 months free. Solo annual = $790/yr (vs $948/yr monthly). Pro annual = $1,790/yr (vs $2,148/yr monthly). Same product, just locked in.

How accurate is the pricing?

We price against real distributor catalogs in your ZIP. Lumber yards, electrical supply houses, plumbing wholesalers. Prices refresh weekly. Low/Mid/High columns let you see the spread instead of one number.

What about engineers and architects?

Engineers get a design-review pass instead of a takeoff. Same Pro tier — flag missing details, undersized members, code issues. See /trades/engineer for what we check.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Month-to-month, no contracts, no setup fees. Annual pre-paid is non-refundable but you keep access through the end of your year.

What if the report is wrong?

Tell us. We refund the takeoff and we fix the model. Plan reading is hard — we want to know when we miss.
